The Speed Sprinter...

The humor here was too rich and creamy to pass up.

We spotted this guy walking on the other side of the street. He was a study in contrast because he was wearing the latest Nike track speed suits, designer track footwear, ankle socks to reduce wind drag, and a cap to prevent the cool down -- the lastest in athletic track-wear.

Unfortunately, the only sprinting he was doing was to the local Starbucks for a venti frappucino.
Memory sketch from that amazing extra creamy sweet walking guy.

I got a quick glace at this man. I added the oversize drink just for fun. When I added the cool shadows, it made the light side instant pop much warmer. nice. hehe

p.s.
I have two monitor, one has a warm tone and the other a cool tone. I don't know which monitor is more accurate. But this image looks better on the warmer monitor.

The Sketchclub Selective Process

It's funny, we select our marks by calling them out. This is not a dignified or scientific process at all, rather it is reduced to selective process akin to being in junior high. It could sound like this:

"Hey, what about the smurf at the crosswalk?"

"Hah! (*snicker*) A smurf."

"Nah, too easy."

"Well, how about Mike Tyson heading this way, or Ted Turner sitting at the tables?"

"Let's go with Tyson."

"OK, hee-hee, Tyson."

"Everybody in agreement, we're going with Tyson."

Followed by inconspicuous -- and not so inconspicuous -- stares in that direction.

South Bay Galleria 2013

As we bid adieu to 2013, we gathered for one last sketch romp. It was also the first time I had drawn in my sketchbook using my new spectacles. Alas, the time had finally come for glasses, but who knew my  sketchbook paper had so much texture! :p
